“The day is coming now, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and the evil-doers will be like stubble. […] But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will shine out with healing in its rays.”
Malachi 3:19-20
Jesus is the Sun of righteousness spoken of by the Prophet Malachi, who comes with healing in His rays for us who seek Him and long for Him to work in our lives.
The Lord is a burning furnace of Love; a fire that He came to cast on earth. A fire that heals those who are open to its action, but that will destroy all that stands against it.
“I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!“
Luke 12:49
Am I open to receiving God’s healing? Are you? Do we believe His will is for us to be made whole and that He wills to give us His abundant life?
There are still recesses of my heart that, as I type this, offer some resistance. That means that there are parts of me that still don’t believe, fully, that God’s healing rays will come to me. As I listened to the above verses at Mass today, I felt the Lord’s invitation to hope and trust.
Lord, today I want to stand in the healing rays of your Love. Help me receive these words of comfort today – that you are healing me and renewing me. Oh Sun of Justice, cast your fire upon my heart, and change it so that it may become wholly Thine, capable of receiving whatever you have in store for me.
